It seems quite clear, since this happened on two separate machines, right after some Windows updates, that the non-functioning of the Realtek SD card reader must be tied to some Windows updates that were recently rolled out.
#UPDATE REALTEK USB 2.0 CARD READER FOR WINDOWS 10 UPDATE#
Since you raised the question of the failed update, the Windows 10 machine has now successfully installed the one update shown in the above screenshot that failed and there are no further pending updates (see screenshot below). This same situation occurred on two different computers. Was showing in the device manager, after the updates it disappeared and the card reader does not work. Before the updates on March 16, 2017, the Realtek USB 2.0 Card Reader
#UPDATE REALTEK USB 2.0 CARD READER FOR WINDOWS 10 INSTALL#
Quite to the contrary, it looks like the updates that DID install caused the problem. I was not asking about any failed updates. It looks like you may have mis-interpreted my question. I again unplugged and re-plugged the card reader from the motherboard, and it came right back to life. It is worth noting that the card reader on one of the computers regressed to not working again after a few restarts. The computer recognized the reader, it showed up again in the device manager. With the computer fully started up again, I plugged the USB connector for the card reader back into the motherboard. With the computer off, I removed the cover from the computer and unplugged the USB 2.0 connector for the card reader from the motherboard.ģ.
#UPDATE REALTEK USB 2.0 CARD READER FOR WINDOWS 10 DRIVER#
I made sure that all Realtek Card Reader 2.0 software under the "Programs and Features" control panel option was uninstalled (I had tried to install latest driver updates from Realtek as part of the debugging process). I was, however, finally able to get the card readers on both machines working again.ġ. None of the suggestions in the prior replies below worked. It seems to me that there may be a problem with the recent updates, can someone please look into this and advise. I have also attached a screenshot of the updates. I have attached below a screenshot of the device manager before the update on the SX2185 and then after the update, and the Realtek USB 2.0 Card Reader has disappeared from the device manager after the update. On both computers, the card readers suddenly stopped working after some recent Windows updates. I have two Gateway computers with Realtek SD card readers.
